Homemade baby- and toddler friendly snacks for on the go
Most of the time we care a lot for our babies and toddlers’ snacks to be healthy. So we prefer them homemade. But also most of the time we’re not well-rested enough to hear our inner culinary-muse whisper.
So for all of our tired parents out there, here are 5 easy, quick and healthy homemade snacks to pack for when on the go with your cubz.
Don’t forget to treat yourself as well! (Fill up that energy-tank!)
- APPLESAUCE SEMOLINA GALLETTES
My kids LOVE these easy and quick homemade galettes. Even my toddler can make them in under 5 minutes.
He enjoys the culinary activity and I love the quality-time plus the satisfaction of having a delicious batch of healthy snacks made so quickly!
They’re best stored in a closed box and eaten in under 24 hours. But between you and I: They’ll never last that long π
Whisk the ingredients into a soft dough. In your palm roll into small balls and then squash into circles. Bake on a minimally (coconut) oiled frypan put on medium heat (2 minutes each side).
Ingredients
- 2 glasses of fine semolina
- 1 tbs vanilla sugar
- 1/2 ts baking powder
- 1/4 ts salt
- 1 ts cinnamon
- 2 tbs applemouse
- 1 tbs coconut oil
- 1 glass almond milk

- POPCORN
I told you these were easy and quick to make snacks!
But we did promise you healthy as well, so here goes the twist: Make your corn pop in coconut oil and add cocoa powder for extra healthy sweetness!
Everybody enjoys popcorn. But with just these little tweaks they become out-of-the-world-good! Plus we love that they are the perfect finger-snacks for baby’s and toddlers.
Of course, let the popcorn cool a little before you fill your reusable bags for the easiest on the go snack you and your cubz have ever had.
- BITE-SIZED ENERGY BALLS
Homemade energy balls are amazing all natural energy-refill snacks. I was introduced to them as my very nutritious post-partum breastfeeding snacks. I’ve loved them ever since, and so do our cubz.
They’re great as energy-refill when you have long outdoors activities planned.
Mix the ingredients into a stiff dough: oathmeal, crushed nuts, raisins or dates with vegan milk and a teaspoon coconut oil. Add seeds of choice (chia, sunflower, pumpkin,..).
Roll into small balls.
Put in the fridge for 30 minutes.
Enjoy!
- VEGGY WAFFLES DELUXE
These veggy waffles are the best thing in the world. As a family we went years thinking we couldn’t be happier. It is, untill we discovered these waffles. There’s literally life before and life after the veggy waffles deluxe.
Warning: They are easy to make, ready in minutes and eaten in seconds. Do NOT prepare these with an empty stomach if you want them to be your on-the-go snack!
Here’s the recipe:
In a small bowl whisk together the dry ingredients. In a bigger bowl whisk together the liquids. Form a well in the middle of the dry ingredients and pour the liquid mix in. Whisk the ingredients together into a batter. Pre-oil your waffle iron with some coconut oil before you pour the batter in. Cook the waffles on your waffle iron.

- VEGAN BANANA MUFFINS
Last but surely not least.
These “rustic” delicatesses can be ready in as little as 10 minutes if you make them baby-bite sized.
They also keep very good for weeks in the freezer, which makes them perfect for meal-prepping long before your outdoors excursion with the kids is due.
Also, I am obsessed with how good they make our home smell!
This is again a “whisk all ingredients into a batter” recipe. (When we promess easy, we deliver easy.)
Fill a muffin tin with the batter and bake at 350F for 10 minutes if baby-sized (20 minutes for normal sized muffins).
This website has the most complete version we could find of this recipe.
