(N°5 and N°10 will surprise you !)

Did you already purchase your diaper bag? Let us know in the comments bellow with YES or NO!

What are the must-have features that make a diaper bag Ah-ma-zing ?

We went through hundreds upon hundreds of customer feedback messages. All of them were from parents who had purchased a diaper bag for when they’d be on-the-go with their cubz. Most of them had already bought several diaper bags in search of “the right fit”. Through all the fails they had encountered they could now tell us what exactly are needed features for a great diaper bag. Here is what they had to say:

Number 1: It should be a diaper bag BACKPACK. Having two free hands is a must when on the go with kids. You never know when you’ll have to be quick to catch something, pull, push, hold,… You get the picture. Being handsfree means you can act quickly enough to avoid the little and big disasters on the way. Which in turn means you feel just that tiny bit relaxed enough to also enjoy the experience.

Number 2: It should be made of a waterproof or water-resistant material. Now, golden tip here: Even though your bag is made of the right material, before you ever use it or wash it, spray it with a waterproofing spray! That way it will be resistant to everything liquid. But it will also be easy to wipe off stains. This trick also protects the color to remain the one you fell in love with, instead of changing into a washed-out version. You’re welcome!

Number 3. The straps should be padded! Because, don’t we all tend to think that with kids «more is barely enough» ? And before we have the time to realy think about it, we find ourselves carrying a diaper bag filled to the maximum of its capacity, straining our shoulders like nothing else. So padded straps are no luxury!

Pro tip, for extra-wonderful back support: Choose a diaper bag with lower back padding. That way, even though you put toys in your diaper bag backpack, you don’t end up cussing at it for poking your spine the whole walk through.

Number 4. Multiple pockets. Like in «the more, the merrier». Do we need to say more? This is such an important feature of a good diaper bag backpack. How else do you easily compartmentalize all that baby stuff? It is impossible without well placed compartments to have everything well organized in you diaper bag backpack. And if it’s a chaos in there you can’t even dream of keeping an overview of your babies’ necessities.

Number 5. Easy access to the stuff you packed! Everyone wants a high capacity diaper bag backpack. But the hidden truth is that they can quickly become a nightmare if you don’t have easy access to all of the things you packed without messing up your organization! So nowadays the best diaper bags (the Cubz Crew diaper bag backpack included) have this mid-back zipper that makes it easy to pack a high-capacity bag fully without messing up your organization. Yes, anything to keep our sanity in this whole new world of parenting.

Number 6. Insulated pockets are a must in a good diaper bag backpack. Your cubz get hungry on the go, and you better be able to come up with bottles and snacks that have the right temperature when you’re in the middle of a stroll! It’s also a nice plus for us parents to keep our water bottles (or energy drinks !) cool for longer. Stay hydrated!

Number 7. A parent pocket. Having your own handbag separated from your diaper bag when on the go is so passé. Parents have gotten more practical over the years. We don’t want to be juggling two or three different bags anymore. We want one good(looking) bag that will hold all of our cubz’s necessities as well as our own basic ones. So when going on your diaper bag shopping spree, look out for what we like to call a “parent pocket”. You want to be able to put your wallet, keys and phone in an easy to access but also well-hidden compartment. A-ha.

Number 8: We’ll have to channel our inner Oprah for this one: Stroooller straaaaps. Amen to stroller straps! Nobody wants to be carrying a backpack the whole time when on the go with kids. At some point you want to have the option to just take that bag off your back and hang it on the stroller. Don’t underestimate your need for this accessory. Get them with your diaper bag backpack. You have to buy them as an extra with most brands but some offer them for free when you purchase a diaper bag backpack. Cubz Crew does. 😉

Number 9. A changing pad. When changing your cubz on the go, having a changing pad on hand gives just that minimum of comfort. Technically any cloth could do. But what parents really look for in a changing pad is it being made of an easy to clean and water-repellant material. It also needs to be easily foldable and preferably on the medium side of the size chart. This accessory is also one of those that you typically have to purchase as an extra. With our diaper bag backpack you get a small one as yet another extra free gift! (Yes, the Oprah in us is striking again.)

Number 10. Gender neutral color and modern style. Neutral definitely wins when it comes to color and style of the diaper bag. Mainly a light grey color and modern city backpack style seem to hold the general preference. And this for several reasons. Avoiding “post-purchase flower print-regret” being a big one. There’s also a classy timelessness to neutrals. We go for neutral because we don’t want our diaper bag backpack to mess up our outfit. Then there’s the fact that more and more dads like to be seen carrying the diaper bag so they like to have a say in its color and style. And finally; We want to be able to recycle our diaper bag backpack into an office bag, sports bag, city bag, sleepover bag … Just to name a few.

Number 11. A wet wipe pocket. On the side, please. Remember when we were talking about being handsfree to avoid little disasters? Believe us, you want need easy and (very) quick access to the wet wipes when on the go with your cubz. Wet wipe pockets typically open at two places; above so you can but in your wet wipes pack or box. And then there’s a slit on the front so you can easily take out a wet wipe when need be. With our brand you get a wet wipes box for free as an extra thank you gift when you purchase the Cubz Crew diaper bag backpack.

CONCLUSION : When shopping for your dream diaper bag backpack we recommend you to make a list of the must-have features for you. If it helps, here is the list of what hundreds of parents agreed on to be the 11 must-have features of a great diaper bag:
